A tabletop garden affair....
The design industry as a whole is currently infatuated with all things of the garden variety. Whether it be floral prints, woven wicker textures, garden trellis’, or scenic garden wallpapers, it seems we just can’t get enough of what I have dubbed '“garden pretty.” You might blame it on the resurgence of hand painted wallpaper houses such as de Gournay and Gracie or just a general movement away from all of the geometric patterns we saw a few years ago. But whatever it is, I am enjoying this current design bubble of “garden pretty.”
As we head closer to fall, I thought perhaps the bubble may burst but lo and behold design’s garden affair has gone mainstream with the introduction of CB2’s collaboration collection with Gwenyth Paltrow’s GOOP. The collection features a new dinnerware series with a garden motif that is '“wedding china quality but meant for everyday use” as well as a chinoiserie inspired floor covering. The feeling of the collection as a whole is dreamy and is reasonable enough for everyone to play around with this garden aesthetic.
Fashion houses have also branched out into homewares inspired by our garden love affair. I am currently crushing on La Double J’s Libellula Dinner plate collection as well as Gucci’s Herbarium Tableware. The Herbarium motif is also available in I think Gucci’s first ever (I may be mistaken) launch into (gasp) wallpaper. A sure sign that floral wallpaper is here to stay….
As cooler temperatures roll in, I unfortunately am not planning a garden party any time soon, but if I were, I am completely inspired by all of my latest finds. Perhaps you are planning a spring wedding or baby shower? If so, I hope my collected tabletop finds on my current Style Desires curated edit may bring you some inspiration.
