One to Know: Caroline Boykin

A trip to Charlotte’s own Anne Neilson Fine Art gallery began my love affair with all things Caroline Boykin. A porcelain ceramic artist based out of Raleigh, NC, Caroline’s multi-media work pulled at my heart strings upon first sight. Her art begins with hand thrown porcelain clay, molded into vessels or made into delicate bits of flowers and butterflies. The bits are either used to adorn the vessels or mounted onto an art canvas, creating a 3-dimensional one-of-a-kind wall art piece. The canvas’ are painted with either a matte acrylic or a high lacquer finish. The high lacquer pieces are my favorite- the juxtaposition between the modern feel of the lacquered canvas and the hand crafted clay pieces are the perfect modern meets traditional mix that I love. While I am running out of wall space in my own home, one of her vessels is definitely on my Christmas wish list this year.

Caroline’s talents don’t just lie in the art studio, she also offers interior design services for those lucky enough to live in the Raleigh area.

Are you just in much in love as I am? North Carolina has so many brilliant artisans and I love supporting and spreading the word of local talent. If you know of an artist who should be featured in my One to Know series, please let me know!

Yours truly,
Brooke
